Job Description Summary

The Division of Continuing Education is seeking a part-time instructor to teach Nurse Aide I and/or Nurse Aide II classes. The classes will be offered at the Davis Center in Engelhard, NC.

Hiring is contingent upon approval of candidate by NCDHHS and NCBON.

Minimum Qualifications

Registered nurse currently registered in North Carolina with an unencumbered license and a minimum of two years (4000 hours) of registered nursing experience.

The applicant must also be meet one of the following:
*completion of a course in teaching adults,
*experience in teaching adults, or
*experience in supervising nurse aides.

Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to individuals with prior teaching experience in an educational setting.

Essential Duties

Under direction of the Director of Healthcare Programs, the Continuing Education Instructor works cooperatively with BCCC staff to perform the following:

• Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabus.
• Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and payroll records for each course taught.
• Prepare, review, and update course syllabus on a regular basis.
• Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
• Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
• Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
• Submit required reports and fulfill all contract provisions.
• Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security.
• Maintain student, instructor, and staff confidentiality. Consistently monitor work area to ensure instructor and student data is being protected according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
• Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner.
• Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
• Interact with students, the public, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous and professional manner.
• Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.

FLSA
Estimated Hours per Week up to 23 hours per week
Range $17.65 - $23.85 Based on the College's salary plan (This range is inclusive of educational levels through a bachelor's degree, for candidates with a higher relevant educational level, the range may increase)
