Job Description Summary

The Division of Student Services’ Student Support Services Project is seeking part time tutors to provide individual and small group tutoring to students in the Student Services Success Center. This position reports directly to the Academic Success Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed at least one semester at BCCC, college, or university with a 2.5 grade point average.

Received at least a 3.0 in the subjects to be tutored.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous tutoring experience.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to work well and communicate with first generation, low income and/or disabled students.

Well organized, detail oriented, dependable and creative.

Essential Duties

Assist Students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning strategies and work on study skills.

Other assistance will include reviewing class material, discussing texts, preparing for tests, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problem.

Be available for assistance during walk-in lab hours.

Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions.

Attend tutor-training sessions.

Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.

Assist with additional duties as needed such as copying and organizing materials, preparing center for sessions and other related duties.
